اغتيل المحلل السياسي والخبير الأمني العراقي، هشام الهاشمي، مساء الاثنين، في العاصمة العراقية بغداد.
وهشام الهاشمي هو من مواليد بغداد 1973، هو مؤرخ وباحث في الشؤون الأمنية والاستراتيجية والجماعات المتطرفة، ومختص بملف تنظيم داعش وأنصارها.ويعد هشام متابعاً للجماعات الإسلامية العراقية منذ عام 1997، عَمِل في تحقيق المخطوطات التراثية الفقهية والحديثية، مع أن تحصيله الأكاديمي بكالوريوس إدارة واقتصاد – قسم الإحصاء.
تم اعتقال الهاشمي والحكم عليه بالسجن من قبل نظام صدام حسين، وقد خرج من السجن عام 2002، وبعد عام 2003 انصرف إلى العمل في الصحافة، وبدأ يشارك في كتابة التقارير والوثائقيات مع الصحف والقنوات الأجنبية.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك، كان يكتب مدونة عن خريطة الجماعات المسلحة في العراق، ولم يكن يوماً عضواً في الجماعات المتطرفة، لا سيما أنصار الإسلام وتنظيم القاعدة وفروعها وداعش.
وتحكم الجماعات المتطرفة على الهاشمي بأحكام مختلفة، منها الردة والعمالة بسبب مواقفه المناهضة لهم يعد الهاشمي أول من أماط اللثام عن قيادات تنظيم الدولة – داعش في كُلٍ من العراق و سوريا، حيث افصح عن أسماء ومعلومات تخص قيادات التنظيم وآلية عملهم.
